Areas of Action
We represent the different actors in the forestry chain in Uruguay with the objective of promoting sustainable development of the sector from the economic, social and environmental perspectives. We promote the development of plantations and the conservation and management of natural forests in the country. We contribute to improving commercial integration and positioning of the Uruguayan forestry industry in the world.
Sanity Commission
Forest protection is a matter of fundamental importance for the sustainable development of the sector. In this sense, the Forest Sanity Commission of SPF coordinates efforts among the different involved agents, which it considers key to obtain the benefits of the important investments made in implementing, developing and conserving the current and future forest heritage.
PAIF Operation
It is a nationwide system, financed by member companies, that works every summer to achieve the immediate detection of any fire source that may threaten protected plantations.
Once a source has been identified, the necessary response is activated quickly and in a coordinated manner to prevent its spread, through a rapid and effective initial attack.
The fundamental pillars of the system are: prevention, detection, coordination and dispatch, and combat.
Labor Issues
SPF has legal advice on labor matters and a commission that works in this area, integrated with representatives of the member companies. Its main function is to develop guidelines for the tripartite negotiation as representative of the sector in the Salary Council, and to address other labor-related issues.
Communication Commission
Communication is a fundamental pillar in all business areas and sectors. From this area, the annual communication plans are prepared and the digital tools, press actions, the Forestry Magazine, and the strategies defined in the institutional plans are coordinated.
The relationship with different actors and publics of interest is also promoted, promoting communication clear, coherent and aligned with the objectives of the institution.
The work of the area is transverse to all areas of the SPF, accompanying and strengthening its initiatives.
